Microsuction is a safe and easy way to remove any wax or foreign bodies present within the ear canal.
Ear wax is a natural substance that acts as a defensive layer in the ear canal, protecting against bacteria, dust and dirt. Wax is essential, and your body produces wax of it's own accord, but too much can muffle hearing and become impacted.
The procedure will be performed by Delia, Clinical Audiologist following guidelines written by The Hearing Lab & The British Society of Audiology.
Following successful microsuction, we will contact you in six months for a check up free of charge.
Does microsuction hurt?
- The procedure is painless. The only equipment involved in the extraction process is a vacuum. Side effects can include a mild headache or slight dizziness, but it is unlikely.
How long does it take?
- Usually, microsuction will only require one visit. However, sometimes ear wax is too hard and lodged deep in the ear canal so a further visit may be required, included in the treatment cost.
Can my child have microsuction?
- Hear Works does not perform this procedure on anyone under 16 years of age.
